This species of dung beetle likes to break down large dung balls and make smaller ones. They'll live in the dung as part of their substrate and can be active at times but not all day every day, substrate made from 3 - 4 inches of topsoil.
Feeding on horse dung
You can use other dungs just make sure the supplier isn't using any medication or worming tablets as these can pass to the beetles and cause them to die. They will also take defrosted rodents 2 times each month as a protein source.
Do not give these a water dish.
They can be kept in a plastic storage tub with some holes for ventilation.
